For Employers
Frequently Asked Questions
In an effort to address some of our clients' questions, we have provided an FAQ section. Although several areas are covered in detail, it is by no means a comprehensive list of questions. For further information, please do not hesitate to contact us. A representative from Step Consulting will be happy to answer all of your questions.
Q. Is your firm a fully licensed recruiting company?
A. Yes, In accordance with the Japanese Ministry of Labor & Employment, all executive search and recruiting firms operating in Japan are required to be licensed. The license is for your protection. The high standards set by the Ministry are designed to protect both the clients and the candidates in the recruiting process. In the end, it helps preserve the integrity and longevity of our industry
Q. Are your recruiting fees and payment terms flexible?
A. There is always some flexibility in these matters. We will try to accommodate a client's request as much as possible. Please keep in mind that fee and payment terms are often affected by the type of search required and the target hire date. One of our guiding principles is building and maintaining long-term relationships with our clients.
Q. What are your invoice and payment terms?
A. Usually, our invoice payment dates are within 30 days of the candidate's start date for contingency searches. Retained searches and other services at Step Consulting may vary. Please call us for more details
Q. What is the typical candidate profile?
A. One of the key reasons that clients choose to work with us is that we have the ability to find bi-lingual semiconductor professionals. We work with candidates from the staff level through to the Country Manager. Our industry experienced consultants carefully screen candidates and only send a select few to our clients. We find this to be the most efficient for ourselves and the client since time is always a integral factor in the recruiting process.
Q. If a candidate leaves, what do we do?
A. We strive to create a win-win situation for both the candidate and the client. However, in some cases, this is not the case for a variety of reasons. As such, contractually establish a quote period. If a candidate leaves within a 12 weeks period on his own accord, then we will offer either a 50% recruiting fee refund, or we will do our best to replace that candidate with a new candidate at no additional cost.
Q. With what kind of firms do you usually work with in Japan?
A. Our clients are American and European semiconductor and wireless industry leaders who have sales, manufacturing and/or design centers in Japan.
